Simply put, cribbing is when a horse grasps on a fixed surface, pulls backwards, produces a grunting noise, which is the horse sucking air into its stomach. The act of Cribbing has been associated with colic, loss of weight, oral infections, damage to property, and a laundry list of health issues. From a scientific standpoint little is known about cribbing due to lack of adequate funding; however, anyone who has owned a cribbing horse knows the damage that will be caused to their property and themselves.
